« La poésie française la plus usée, la plus décolorée, la plus poncée, rongée, lissée, ce sont les Fables de La Fontaine », écrit Claude Roy dans La Conversation des poètes (Gallimard, 1993).

Les fables de cet auteur, connues dans le monde entier, sont lues encore aujourd’hui par un vaste public.

Les travailler en classe avec de jeunes élèves permet au professeur de faire acquérir des connaissances en langue française dans un climat de plaisir et de détente et surtout d’amadouer les élèves à la lecture. Pour cela, il est souhaitable de créer dans la classe un coin lecture. Les élèves déplacent les chaises et s’assoient sur des coussins pour bien écouter. Pour les jeunes élèves, on peut proposer une fable dans une version simplifiée afin de ne pas démotiver les élèves qui auront certainement des difficultés à comprendre la version originale.

October 15: Global Hand Washing Day

OBJECTIVES:
To inform children about the importance of using soap.
To encourage our pupils to wash their hands.
To present a poem to help timing hand washing.

STUDENT LINGUISTIC LEVEL: A1

STEPS
In lower level classes – bring in soap. Show the children what it is and tell them it is a bad germ killer, more commonly known as ‘SOAP’.

OBJECTIVES
To revise the language of pencil case items.
To extend pupils’ vocabulary.
To practise the language of instructions.
To practise /or present the language of materials such as metal, plastic, cotton, etc.

STUDENT LINGUISTIC LEVEL: A1 (from the 1st year to the 5th year, see below for extension exercises of 4th and 5th classes)

TIMING: 10 – 15 minutes depending on if you are teaching or testing.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: pencil case, pencils, pens, rubber/eraser, colouring pencils or felt tips, crayons, glue, a pair of scissors, a pencil sharpener, Liquid Paper/White Out, ruler, highlighter.
